Hi,
Is anyone successfully using a 1gig SD card on their _Permanent_Painted_Coatings.aspx running Pocket Windows 2002?
Just thought I would
check before I bought another card as 1gig cards are cheap as chips on EBay atm.
Since people use these things with Oziexplorer and other mapping software I'm sure someone here knows.
Thanks.

Yep.
I've got an Ipaq 5550, I think its WinCE 2002, but not sure (the rom id calls it Win CE 4.2)
I bought a 1 Gig SD card from a dealer on Ebay, it didn't work on my _Permanent_Painted_Coatings.aspx, a work _Permanent_Painted_Coatings.aspx nor my computers SD card reader.
I sent it back and they tested it and said it was ok, but sent me a new one anyway. It works fine with my _Permanent_Painted_Coatings.aspx, but I can't get my desktop SD card reader to recognise it (its an old reader though, so that may be the problem)
The second card didn't work straight away, I found I had to soft reset it with no card in, put in a smaller SD card (256 mb) and then put in the new 1 gig. I can't remember all
the steps, may have soft reset it again at this point. Anyway it couldn't 'see' the 1 gig card for a while and I though I had another dud. The once I'd got it recognised using
the steps above, it has since worked fine.
Using it with OziCE, no problems at all.
Dog.

Just checked my version and it is 3.0.11171 (Build 11178).
A friend of
mine also has the Ipaq 5550 and I'm pretty sure his is running Pocket Windows 2003 Second Edition.
Since you have had that trouble on a newer version I'm thinking I might have more trouble.
Would be nice to have a 1gig card................

I have an HP Ipaq 5550 (PocketPC 2003) and a SD1GB with it. I put the card in the computers card reader to load the maps on it and then stick it into the ipaq. Software I use is OziExplorer, SmartST and Memory-Map, they all can read the maps directly from the card with no need to download the maps to the _Permanent_Painted_Coatings.aspx.

Yep, HP2210 no worries with a 1 gig PQI sd card. Got the SD card last week, about $100 off ebay. you are right, they are cheap. I got a Sandisk 512 meg CF card for $56 as
well.

I've been watching 1gig SD cards going on Ebay for between $85 and $125 +postage depending on read/write speeds.
I have a CF slot too but it has a CF GPS in it :-)
Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I just signed up on a Pocket PC
forum and got the answer in minutes.
Apparently there are no size limitations. Lets hope they're right!

My 3600 ipaq running CE 02 handles a 512 CF card ok, I was worried that it may not when I got it.
I also found info on the net that CE has no size limitations as far as cards go.
Camera's do sometimes.

The reason I was checking first is I remember with Win95 (I think) it had a hard drive size limit. If you got a big hard drive it would only recognise the first 8gig (or whatever it was). You just had to partition it and get multiple smaller drives.
The guy on the other
forum said some people had successfully used 160gig external hard drives with USB adapters. Probabably a bit overkill for my needs but good to know LOL
Thanks.
