I know this was asked before but I couldn't find it using the forum search.

Does anyone have recommendations for a caravan park in Alice. We are looking for 3 powered camp sites.

I remember mention of one with great pies...I know that will be a hit with one of our crew.

We stayed at the G'Day Mate Park last year. Head for the airport (coming from Darwin), turn left after the cutting, across the causeway, turn right and it is on the right. Just a short walk back to the pub behind the servo, good cheap meals. Could not fault it, intended to stay overnight but ended up with 4 nights. Next door is the Date Farm, good for coffee/dates.

There are 3 caravan parks just sth of the gap all close to each other. G'Day Mate 0889529589, McDonnell Range 0889526111, and Heavitree Gap 0889504444. All are a close walk to the Date Farm which is great for coffee, date scones and of course dates. Heavitree Gap tends to get a few tour groups but if you have kids has rock wallaby feeding at sunset, don't have to be staying there to feed them though just rock up at sunset.

Having stayed at the Big4 at Heavytree Gap a few times, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. It's clean, secure and friendly. Add to that the free pancakes on Sunday mornings and it can't be beat.

Happy trails, Mike.
