G'day Brian, it will be the tracks south of Tom Groggin that you will want. The main one over the top is Davies High Plains track, a good drive and gets you into Victoria through some wonderful country, even after the fires went through a couple of years ago.

There is a lot of tracks through the area, get hold of the Hema map, The High Country - Victoria. Start at Tom Groggin and follow Davies High Plains from there and a whole new world will open up for you.

Gday Brian,

Over easter we camped at The Poplars and did day trips from there.
Cowombat Flat is where the Murray starts and just around the corner from the Polplars.

One day trip took us north west up McCarthys track to Davies Plain across Charlies Ck then west across to Mt Hope north to Mt Pinnibar which was spectacular!. We came home via Tom Groggin Track and station. From the station we followed Kings Plain track sth to Davies Plain, again a spectacular trip with Brumbies to boot on the High Plains.

Returned to the Poplars via Charlies Ck again! Great camping spots at Charlies!!!!!

Intersting to note that the Corryong Uniform were breathtesting around Davies plain. 2 hits and a couple of unregistered I believe! Good to see!!!

We had an array of trucks with us on the treck from Hilux, Patrols (4 and six diesels) cruiser to F250 PSD CC with standard tyres :-(

Excellent country and a great week. DNR have installed new dunnies at The Poplars. Tracks are steep and dry at present and as someone stated earlier, Wet track conditions would be interesting in spots.

Hope your dust seals are in good nick especially on limestone back to Benambra!

Telstra GSM coverage found at the intersection of Kings and Davies Plain tcks.

Enjoy, Adam

Gday Brian. We did a lovely trip Benambra to Tom Groggin over Mt Pinnabar. Towed the camper trailer. It was dry and I wouldn't like to be there in the wet. A great book as Tracks of the High country.
