Hi All, wondering if anyone has had any experience in making their own roof top camper? I’m looking to build one along the lines of the Autohome / Magnolia style – ie approx 2.1m x 1.4m with an aluminum roof and pops up to about 950mm. Wondering what the best / easiest materials to work with for framework , cladding. Also any advice re using gas struts vs. scissor action lift mechanisms etc (not sure what’s available out there).
A supplier to the caravan industry recommended .5mm cladding on a maranti timber frame & a plywood base. Any help would be appreciated

I’m on the south side of Melbourne.

Cheers
Alex

Alex, pretty sure C&A Canvas in Morwell made the canvas sides for a unit as you describe, think the bloke who had is made was from Warragul. Give them a ring, they may be able to help you out.

Thanks John. Just gave them a call and Allan said he knew what I was talking about and could give me a quote.
Thanks for the tip.

Hi, We have a Autohome Columbus we would like to sell. We have used it once, but unfortunatley my bad back makes it difficult to get in & out of. It would be very reasonably priced & would even concider some sort of trade. I'm not sure how to post a picture on here, but it can be viewed on the Autohome site http://www.autohome.it/

Cheers
