hey dude, just turned over 102000 in my 03 patrol with no major or minor dramas either. didnt take the extended warranty option cause of the possibility of ' not covered, just normal wear and tear' factor or 'your fault due to pushing too hard'. besides... im confident in the thing anyway... hasnt let me down yet... touch wood also, and its been put through its paces dont worry!

Steve, have had Patrols made 1989,1993,1997,2002, all petrol manuals, all except last which only has 185000klm have done at least 240000klms and yet to have major mechanical problem. Hmmm. $800.00 lots of cold ale to enjoy around a fire.
Just my humble opinion.

GOB & denny
Hi, I feel that if you have had no probs so far save your $800 and have plenty of fun with it as these motor and drive trains are reknowned for reliabity. I have a series 2 with over 200k and apart from running hot have had no probs that nissan would warrant anyway. Just avoid 5th gear towing as most series 2 owners would tell you.
Regards Trevor.

If its a 3.0 litre diesel model I would pay the $800 to have piece of mind. If petrol keep the money in your pocket and enjoy.

Hi there,
I'm with 80s Cruiser...
3.0 TDI > get some peace of mind
if 4.2 diesel or 4.8 petrol then save the money, they are a proven and reliable unit.

If you choose the warranty for peace of mind, just read carefully exactly what it will and won't cover in detail, as the warranty may not be worth the piece of paper it is written on if it only covers limited repairs.

Cheers,
Wayne

You have no probs because it's the factory nissan warranty - the only one to buy. It's an extension on the origianal factory warranty.

Hi Steve
My 2003 Nissan 3lt just about to have 60k service and out of warranty next month.
No probs so far but I still took out extended warranty for piece of mind, but mine cost $950 as I get another 50k as well as 2 years, and as we are about to do a lot more travel in next 2 years with a lot of off road stuff, I reckon it's money well spent, specially when a new donk is $20k
Cheers Poppy
