Just for info of anyone interest.
Did a quick trip to
Melbourne last week, trip over, sat on speed limit up to 110kmp, fuel consumption 10.1l/100km = 27mpg. Return trip, head wind for about 6 hours, 11.55 = about 24mpg. 4.2L TD auto, only done about 8,000km (2004 model), no roof rack yet.
Happy of course.
Can the Nissans match this. LOL
Go TOJO.

RB,
We picked our new 04 TD100 Auto up from a dealer about 700km from
home and with about 5km on the speedo when we headed
home we managed 10.3 L/100km, much of that at 100 - 110km/h.
On a 13000km trip with roof rack, 285's, front & rear steel bars, winch etc. the average was still only about 13.5L/100km.

That's great economy. The best I can get is 10.9l/100km but I like to get away from the lights etc quite quickly.
On a trip from our place in
Darwin to Tassie 2 years ago we averaged 11l/100km over 14500kms with the vehicle loaded but no roof rack. Last year we traveled about 6000kms through the Kimberleys fully loaded with a roof rack. We used about 13.5l/km this time. The roof rack obviously makes quite a difference. I have also fitted a Dtronic since the Tassie trip so probably contributes to the higher consumption.
Cheers,
Topend

My brother recently bought a 3 lt turbo/intercooled Patrol. With 2500 K's on the clock they were getting 11.9 Lt's/100 k's fully laden & towing the camper. He told me this would improve once the diesel was run in between 10,000-15,000 k's. That was a while ago so I'm not sure what his latest figures are but maybe he can tel you as he lurks on here occasionally.
