Hi All
Could i get an idea if it makes a big difference to fuel economy and power if i fit a dtronic onto my GUIII 3.0 patrol and is it worth the $1500-. I have herd fuel economy is better but the power is the most noticable.
Does it take off better if you are stuck on a hill? unlike now where you have to give it some revs and ride the clutch to get it moving without stalling.
I run 285/75/16 BFG Muddies.

Tim,

The Dtronic only makes a difference when the engine is running, otherwise power outputs are identical with or without Dtronic.

Is it worth $1500 dollars - let's see - I can sell you mine for $1600, because mine is on-site tested and I know it works well. I can then take the chance on a new one, and hope I don't get a faulty one!!

Seriously now, I also run 285's and these are my findings, no economy change, power is much better but remember it is only 10% more power, so don't expect it to transform into a V8 killer, it takes off better, but you can sometimes still struggle to get off the line on a very hot day with the a/c on when you are pointed up a steep hill in 2wd.

gid'ay tim
i have one fitted to my 3.0lt navara,no differance in fuel consumption, the extra 16kw in power gain made a big difference, less clutch rideing when towing the caravan,i reckon money well spent.

I have a Dtronic on a LC100 TD and would never go back. No change in economy but a huge difference in torque at low revs. Removed it once as I was taking the vehicle in for warranty action. Had to slip the clutch to get the boat (>2000kg) up the ramp. This is normally not required with the Dtronic fitted.

Hi Tim,
Ihave a Dtronic fitted to my ZD30 and have to agree with the others, no real change in fuel economy but very noticeable change in power and flexibility of the motor. When I think about it more power for the same amount of fuel burnt is an improvement in economy.
You may or may not be interested but I am trading my Nissan next week and going to another make of vehicle, so my Dtronic will be for sale at less than new price.
You could email me for details at hoffygd@hotmail.com if interested and I could give you a call.

Cheers
Graeme

Yeah that's me,
I fitted a 2 3/4" system from Beaudesert Exhaust Centre (SE Qld) and it made the Bottom end revs more usuable as the turbo spools up earlier.
The pyro came from Thermoguard Industries who advertise on Exploroz.
Send him an email. He respond very promptly. He also has a web site.
hope this helps.

One of the best mods I've done to the GU.

Economy unchanged, but I do get everywhere quicker, and with less effort. Particularly improved performance when carrying a big load.

hi tim, ditto to the reports of previous owners.
i tow two very large clydsdale horses with my 3lt and with out my dtronic module 1 gear in general and 3-3.5lt/100klm.
total load is normally around 3.2 ton
i have proved this to a number of other nissan owners in our club, and i know you won't regret it...

I have a dtronic on a 3.0 patrol and its great , improves power, the fuel economy is the same .
if you purchase a k&n filter , I put one in mine and works better, the engine breathes easier and you can feel the extra power , I didnt think that an airfilter could do so much.

Tim,

I am yet to find a Nissan 3.0L driver that is sorry he fitted a Dtronic. It's a fair bit of cash, but I think it's well spent.
You won't be sorry either.

I know a few people who have had serious problems with a dtronic fitted and had to have it removed and money refunded because it wouldnt work in their vehicle. I guess its all a bit hit and miss.
