CSR - October

Hi all,

Just gathering as much info as I can on the Canning Stock Route for a planned trip later this year. Looking for feedback from others that have completed this trek.

I have searched previous posts and still have a few questions.

All info indicates that the best time to travel the CSR is June to September, however my holiday schedule means I will begin the CSR from Wiluna early October - Any feedback regarding travelling this time of year would be appreciated.

Other than the usual spares/comms equipment/additional fuel & water - Do I need anything extra to access water from the wells ? (Rope etc)

I'll be travelling across in a 2003 3.0TD Patrol with 4X20Litres of Diesel - is that overkill ?

Any other tips ?

Hi Phil,

Am also planning Canning trip in Sep / Oct this year - 2004 GU III 3.0TD Patrol. For some good info try getting hold of "Canning Stock Route" A Traveller's Guide by Ronele and Eric Gard (3rd Edition). It is a good read with lots of info and advice - from memory they have done the trip 18 times.
October will be a bit on the warm side. We are going to try for September but if that will not work then it will be October.

I will be doing the CSR in June, but will not be back until the middle of July. I will be able to give you any info that you will need plus any tips that I will come across.
