Hi,

I've brought a Codan 6924 HF radio, it's the crystal style so quite old but got it for the right amount. Does anyone have a source of crystals and or know of anyone that will fit them for a reasonable price???? This one has a couple of the RFDS frequencies but would like to add a couple more.

Try Steve Johnson, head of the VKS 737 network at Elizabeth SA, he is also a electonic tec and a wiz with this stuff. he will probably also be able to answer your frequency question as well.

G'day Austravel
Frequencies for VKS737 are 5455 8022 (the most common used) 11612 14977 and 3995. The most common RFDS are 5300 and 5360.
It would probaly cost you as much to get your 6924 set up than to buy say a 8525 with 99 frequencies- probaly already channeled for the frequencies you need. If not- to get the eprom burned with 99 channels is about $50.00. You could have all VKS- all RFDS- and if its got selcall, why not Radtel & Bushphone.
If the 6924- with the channels in it now- cost you more than say $40.00 you paid too much for it.

Signman, if you can get the mk2 6924 at $40, I'll have a dozen...seriously.
