I have just purchase a 03 Triton GLX 2.8lt TD dual cab ute and wish to replace the standard tyres 205/80/16, total diametre of 734mm. I’m considering either the Dueler AT D694 235/70/16, total diametre of 736mm or the Wrangler ATR 225/75/16, total diametre of 744. My question is would I be better to get the Dueler AT’s as they are the wider tyre and closet to the standard tires original overall diametre or would it be better to go the narrower tyre in the Wrangler ATR and gain a 10mm height advantage? The vehicle will mainly be used on the sand and on the gravel tracks around where I live, with mainly camping gear in the back. My second question is will I be able to fit the 235’s on the standard 6 inch rims?

I can't comment on either tyre but I would er on the side of slightly higher and not so wide. Higher rolling radius tyres are better in sand.

225/75R16 will give you a slight increase in diameter, and are light truck construction. Load index is usually 110, which should be legal for your vehicle (
check the placard). The 235/70R16 are usually a lighter construction - load index only about 104 - may not be legal.
Cheers
Phil

Thanks for the
feedback Phil, you made me run out and have a a look at the placard, I didn't think to the
check the speed and load rating. The standard tyre is 104S, so I would be ok with either tyre. I have since found out that the wrangler comes in 235/70R16 105T AT, so I've pretty
well made up my mind. From the responses on other posts on the
forum, I've gathered that the Duelers wear quickly, it will come down to which Tyre dealership can do the best deal on the Wranglers on the
Gold Coast. Anouther deciding factor is that I wanted to stick as close as possible to the original diametre of the original tyre (height wise) and the 235's are only 2mm higher.
