I have bought 5 x 100 Ahr used AGM batteries from ebay (different seller) and they were great. I have been using them for 6 months now and have had no problems. They were from a mainframe UPS which has its batteries cycled every 2 years. As the AGM's have a lifespan (if correctly looked after) of several years I figured they should still be good for a few yet. Also the mainframes do a good job of looking after the batteries with keeping them at float charge.

Find our where they are from, date codes stamped on the case to determine age and what guarentee he has. If everything checks out then they will be a good buy. When you get them try and get them load tested and capacity checked by a reputable company like Battery World. Any problems ask for a refund. If it is pickup then you have that added security knowing where he lives.

I paid $80 each + $20 - $40 postage each (bought 1 then 4) from Vic to Qld for my batteries. They are Dynasty 100Ahr which retail for around $350 approx.

Regards
David
