Eric from Cape York Connections
Thought at the age of 46 still had a couple of games of soccer in me.
Well as the smarter one of the family said youll end up in hospital and yes she was spot on.
Went to cross a ball and the opossing full back tackelled me.
Big lump on shin not brocken but briused bone and leg the size of 5 foot balls.
Free to good
home 1 pair blade soccer boots size 10.5. also 1 pair shin pads and and one brain all hardly used.
All the best
Eric

Eric,
there is no reason why you couldn't be layed up IN THE VEHICLE. Use the time profitably!

Lol I can better that.I broke a leg and been laid up for the last 2.5 years.Lost count of the amount of time spent in hospital ...6 operations so far with number 7 happening next month. If I knew the nurses and food was going to be so good at St
John of Gods in Murdoch (
Perth) I would have broken the other leg too.lol

We have that happening almost every week.
We play in a Masters (Over 35) soccer comp down here.
You need almost two full teams , because you know halfway through , there will be broken bodies all over the place.
Hope you mend ok.

There have been 3-4 deaths down here in +35 footy of different forms lately... most people just head out back into it without training or thinking they are 15 yrs older than last time they played.
I know the stuck at
home feeling.. since op on foot last Wednesday.. 8 days ago.. :(
Bored?

Eric, you're not expecting any sympathy are you?
Well, you have
mine; a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, even just every now and then.
You'll have get the smarter one to kick you in the other shin so that the lumpy shin doesn't hurt so much.
Get
well soon eh.

Leg the size of five ft. balls - or about 1500mm in the new money.....sounds real painful! Take care and keep moving them - you don't want a clot in em!

Well you can't be too carefull as you join the old f&rt$ club. don't have to be doing anything. 3.30am this morning, SWMBO gets up for a drink (We are both suffering from the flu badly) At the kitchen sink, feels woosey, passes out onto floor. Result 8 stitches in cut over eye and Little finger on L/H broken at right angles at knuckle joint. She is still in hospital waiting for the Ali Khan to come and discharge her. At least she will get paid for her lost time.

Jeez Des, you nearly had me believing you there for a minute.!!!
I'll have to
check with Ken Robbo about what the likely jail sentence is these days for wife-beating!!!! hahaha
Seriously though, please pass on my GET
WELL wishes to Elaine; I bet she wishes she'd have sent YOU out to the kitchen to get her a glass of water....
And as for you,
young Eric;
well what can I say??? I turned 50 about 6 weeks ago. And I've been telling everybody who'd listen, that I've been too old for footy and other sports for over 20 years!!!! I guess I'm not a slow learner in every respect eh? LOLOL
Get
well soon....
Cheers
Roachie

OK I'll have to come clean. She wouldn't get the message that I was sick and tired of eye fillet steak and atlantic salmon every night for tea. Just a simple beaf stew would be nice one in a while. LOL
PS Bill at least you look your age not like me!!!!

Well Eric unlike some others on this
forum I would like to thank you.
Like you at the tender age of 46 I contemplated a return to the soccer field. The guys at work encouraged me in this. They needed extra players for the "B" grade team. So off I went to training. Not too bad I thought as I climbed in the car for the short drive home. When I had parked the car in the carport and opened the door I had the first of my many 2nd thoughts. Quite simply standing up hurt.
You have reinforced my decision NOT to play. I've picked up the whistle it is not nearly as much fun but at least I am on the field.
Duncs

46 is nothing. 60 is the new age 40. All you need to do is keep yourself fit and keep your weight down and you will be playing when you are 60. More injuries are caused by lack of fitness and being overweight than hard tackles. Keep on playing.
Richard
