Well after listening to expert after expert on the topic from auto sparky to auto sparky i bit the bullet and had a Bosch unit specially made which bolted straight on. Gone from 50amp Hitachi to 85amp Bosch. Does this sucker put some grunt out or what? Cost was $290, but when i was quoted $280 to rebuild the 50 amp Hitachi and $195 for a wrecker job the extra money for amps seemed a smart move. I was quoted cheaper from a few places but when talking to them the all seemed to lack confidence in the whole process. Hope it works out to be a good investment.

Yeah I seriously need some more grunt, I'm pretty sure the surf has a 70amp but I don't think it's running at 100% capacity, with all my crap hanging off it the voltage drops down a bit at times. The laptop and cooler are the main offenders with spotties and headlights not far behind...
