Hi All

Just completed a major service on my 2001 Patrol and realized it could be performed with the the basic tool kit provided with the vehicle . Plus, oil pump, 1/2" breaker bar , shifter.

Spent $ 315 on fluids and filters .

Nissan quoted $ 855 for this service

For around $40 the Gregory's manual earns it's keep

$315 sounds like a lot of money for fluids filters ect.
just recently did a major service for glenn vic all oils filters(front /rear diff/gearbox/tranny case) ect were less than 200 but his is a 80 series petrol.
still beats giving them dealers all your hard earned money where they pay some poor aprentice $8 an hur and charge you $80 +++

You are right !!!!!!

A guy I work with just watched his pulsar sit for 1 3/4 hr outside his local Nissan dealer to be taken inside for 15 min...

The dealer then called him to say his service was finished....

When he got there they had a 2 hr bill for labour!!!!!!!!!

He had a few theroy's fo them

How much would they rip you on a major sevice......" So you dont do any off road work ???" there goes your front diff oil xfer case oil and cv grease!!!!!!!!!!!!

how did you get off the diff and gearbox bungs. With a yota you need a 15. 16ths socket. If they are not tight you can get away with a shifer but the emptying bungs have a protective ring making a socket essential

Hows it going Davoe

On the patrol all bungs except the sump plug and transfer case drain take a 1/2 inch drive staight into the plug.

easy enough!
