Hi All,

I was looking for some grab chain and associated hooks and came across black rat kit supplied as follows:

5m of 8mm rated chain Grade 70 High tensile
1x slip hook
1x grab hook
1x lug link
in a bucket for $90

To me this looked a little expensive, so I went looking around, and I found a supplier that will provide exactly as above minus the bucket in Australian made PWB Anchor chain grade 70 high tensile transport for $60.

That makes the bucket expensive at $30, and not sure where the chain Black rat are using is made possibly China??
Anyone want one of these let me know, I will pick up for you next Wednesday and mail it COD if you like.

Cheers,
Wayne

add $25 for the postage of the 15-kilo package...

Must be a drop forged mud-repelling bucket black rat have designed.
It certainly pays to shop around.

Pretty average for a decent chain... Beaver (the mob that does black rat) claim 70m per 100kg of 8mm chain (rated to 3.8t)
Then theres the 6t 10mm chain which is 46m per 100kg.
add the 2 hooks and the link and you're up there.
FYI the chain in the black rat tub has a breaking strain of 8000kg...

With the chain in my recovery bag and all slings/straps/shackles I can vouch for that significant weight!

Your right that is expensive. Have you tried TJM, they supply a generic brand. I think I paid around $40 for mine and it was in a bucket! The other place is suppliers of industrial rigging and lifting equipment which is where most of this stuff comes from, but you don't get a bucket.

Hi Wizard,
I am concerned with where the TJM, ARB etc chain is made, I would imagine china or offshore somewhere...at least this guy (rigging place) sells Aus made chain. I would pay a bit extra for that.
