I often see LOL written in posts. What does it mean?

It means 'Leave it or Lose it' - common used when the writer is trying to get a clear message across to the recipient.
Oh, actually I don't really know but I think it means Lots of Love. There was a post quite a while back where many of the common abbreviations were explained. Search and ye may find.

Being one of the 250+++ who nothing about abbreviations, I checked below.
There is an abbreviation for OK!!!!! OK is not short enough it can be abbrevaited to just "k". Now I've seen it all.
