Does anyone have updates on reported closures of properties like Escott Lodge,
Wollogorang (
Tully Inlet) and Hells
Gate?
Last I saw on this site they were closed up.

Read somewhere last month that Escott has shut up
shop. Don't know if it will ever reopen and don't know bout the other two.

Hi Bob,
Yes unfortunately both Escott Lodge and
Wollogorang have been closed. Hells
Gate is the only option that way now, or divert off the track and
camp at Kingfisher
Camp on
Bowthorn Station.
An article in this months 4x4 Australia is on one of the stations up that way, and they have ceased tourism as they were finding it too difficult to run the station as
well as tourism. They also stated it was near impossible to find people to staff the tourism side for them so reluctantly they have had to shut it down. This could possibly be the reason so many are starting to close their properties to travellers.
Cheers
Glenn

Bob
Another place
well worth visiting. is
Lorella Springs which is about 35 km off the road north of
Borroloola. Up to last year you could
camp there --very nice spot , and also you had access to the coast.Lots of red claw and good fishing at the right time.
