... cause, if she does, I'm a gonner!

Went out and splashed out on a Canon White Lens today. 70 - 200 2.8 L series.

It will outlast my EOS 300 D, and probably 4 other bodies as well.

It is heavy, it is BIG, but by hell........ it's nice!!!

I figured that the trip I'm doing, will allow me HEAPS of photo time, so I may as well do it right.

Won't have to lug a tripod ALL the time, and I keep my lens changing down to a minimum.

Shlt it's heavy though...... 1.300 kilo's.......

He'll be right Stuart. He's ditched the fuel jerries, water, food and recovery gear so he's got heaps of spare room.

Actually, I,m going to have a test loading on Sunday morning, 'cause I'm going with another chap in his Nissan GU.

If I have too much, I'll have to ditch..... soap..... deodorant..... clothes......... food......... water........ THEN, my new lens.

Wolfie,

Dunno much about lens gizmos, but I'm pleased to see you're taking an insurance policy with you (in the form of your mate with the GU). At least if the Delicia (or r u taking the Honda?) breaks down, you'll have a reliable tow vehicle.

Look after yourself....

Avagooden...

Not sure if I'd be game to take the Delica, in it's current state. I would think that I would need a good 50 mm. lift, and some underbody protection & bar work.

Nope, I'm riding shotgun in the Nissan.........

Some would call it a step up, some wouldn't. It will be interesting at the end, to see what fared well, and what didn't.

I picked it up, along with a Hoya 77 mm. Circ Polariser, 77 mm. Skylight, 2 GB CF card, & lens, for $2850.00

It it Glass, and Alloy, no plastic. Full rubber seals everywhere, no vacuum while zooming.

I've got the ...

18 - 55 USM
28 - 80 USM
75 - 3-- USM

They are good lenses, but, just seem to lack something.

I haven't actually had time to rattle off some shots yet, all I have done is look thru it.

Auto focus is FAST!!!!!!

No hunting, just crisp, quiet & very, very fast.

The fact that it stays the same length, and the objective lens doesn't turn, makes setting the circular polariser really easy, set & forget, irrespective of focusing!!!

I don't think I will update to the Cokin "P" series....... got waaaay to much money tied up in the "A" series stuff.

I'll certainly have a play tomorrow.....

A white lens awesome.

Now I hope you were smart and payed cash so there r no surprises on the credit card bill.

It’s no cannon lens but the biggest one I have is 300-500 Tamron haven’t found a practical use for it yet. But it’s big and looks really cool!

Some times it is fun to pull it out and have a snap with it and listen to all the other people say ‘Shi* look at the size of that lens that guy must be a professional” and I am there thinking 'shi* I wish new how to use this thing."

Unfortunately, Visa.... I'm saving my cash for going away.

The ONE thing I do have to do, is learn to carry the camera by the lens now, 'cause it's heavy. All good fun......

Whoa..... 500 mm. Tamron...... use x 2x, & digital @ 1.6 correction..... that's what...... 1600 mm?

Cheers

Wolfie
