Hi Guys
Apparently a drilling team has been given permission to grade the Canning Stock Route from well 9 through to well 15. Can a member from WA fax me the article from the Western Australia News Paper if they have it please. (Fax No (03) 97055202. Header: Kim McFarland, Business Development).

I’m a Member of a Not for Profit organisation called the Canning Stock Route Re-enactment, which has been incorporated in WA to drive a mob of cattle from Halls Creek to Wiluna in celebration of Alfred Canning and Snells achievements.

I would be particularly grateful if anyone can help.

Regards

Kim,

I haven't got the article - it was in Thurs or Fri paper - but the grading has ALREADY been done. The article mentions 200 km between Well 9 and 15.

I was on the CSR in Oct 2004 and there was some evidence of the grading then - but not 200kms worth.

I hope someone faxes the article to you, but it wasn't really full of info.

Cheers,

Jim

I won't be able to do it until Tuesday but if you haven't heard from anyone by then then let me know and I shall do so for you.
As Jimbo says - it's already been done though

Thanks Wayne,

Coops is sending the article though on Tuesday. We're more interested in the decision making process and how it came to pass than anything else. I'll give Henry Ward a ring at Glen Ayle Station tomorrow.

It's sad that just about every stockman, drover and station owner throughout the Kimberley and Pilburra want this re-enactment to happen, but we're not receiving support from Government even after solving the major problems of watering the cattle, a poison weed strategy, Public Liabiliity Insurance, Stock & agisment, drovers team, tourism and just about every other thing you care to mention (over the last three years).

I don't think people realise how significant this Stock Route is, both in historical terms and, its value as a tourism icon to Australia.

Thats my bitch for tonight

Regards

Kim
