I am thinking of fitting a snorkle to my dual fuel 60series. Has anyone had any experience with running their 4by on gas with a snorkle fitted?
Does it effect the gas system at all?
Thankyou
Marty

Gidday,The air has to get in somewhere either high and low so fitting a snorkle wont make much difference.A snorkle wont be of any use if your electrics wont handle water.

I had a dual fuel Gq 4.2 EFI and it was fine... There is a mod which i needed for it to work... Most good shops will know of it..

Marty,
There have been a few problems with dual fuel and snorkels. Efi aren't as bad but carbie vehicle will have to be tuned after the snorkel goes on and a balance between running on gas and petrol be reached when the tuning is being done.

It depends on your setup- As wayne mentioned you will need to have the gas tuned again as the draw will be effected by the snorkel addition, so it will run rich on gas.If your gas goes directly into the carby it would be dead easy- just go for your standard snorkle. If you have the gas ring with an open filter above it, you will likely need to go for a custom filter box, or an adaptor from the top of the gas ring to a separate air box and then to the snorkle. I originally had the gas ring, but after getting a snorkle and finding the dramas of having to get the custom air box made up, I went for the gas going direct into the carby- the gas fitter basically drilled out 2x 20mm holes in the carby, plumbed the gas in and devconed it tight for $50.

EFI should be sweet- I put one onto EFI and there were no downsides that I noticed- didnt even need to tune it after.
