Icurrently have a 1999 Hilux 3l diesel 4x4 with 120,000km on the clock. I am seriously considering turbo charging the motor at a cost of about $3800.00. Has anyone out there done the same , and is the difference worthwhile??

I turboed my Diesel GQ about 5 months ago, at the time it had around 200k klms on the clock.

Even the wife said WOW.. its a different car, and thats running only 10PSI... Going to 14 soon! Friend just put a DTS system on his GU, he now happily does donuts on his 35x12's in the carpark at work.. :-D~

Look around at Turbos and the systems, there are MANY different brands and systems, Also Intercoolers make a WORLD of difference, but thats another lot of $$ you have to find...

I went with the Denco Diesel system, and Im very happy with it over other systems. It provides more power down low compared to Safari, and DTS systems.

Its a lot of outlay, but you should be happy with the result.

Hi Ralph,
I have spoken to a number of people who were very happy with the performance after fitting a turbo to their Hilux but these were all 2.8L. I doubt there would be too much difference with the 3L. Your price seems about on par with other prices I have seen. I would be interested in how you get on, as I also have a 3L Hilux which I would love to throw a turbo in.
