Sunrise are holding a phone vote on 'should there be special 4wd licensing?

Phone 1902 555 553 for NO.

This is where this forum comes into it's own. Let's get on the phone guys and gals.

Loved the new Pajero ad placed right after the Sunrise debate this morning with Pat Callihan. :)

Cheers
John

I posted NO but I do think there should be compulsory "Defencive Driving Training" for all drivers..We were lucky as we were able to skid around in mud and cleared areas when learning to control a rig..Drink holders locked in the out position should be compulsory all vehicles registered..I know of three women who dropped a can of drink & crashed retriving it..One big 4x4 wiped out a car the young owner had just spent $4000 hard earned dollars on..All she got was a bent bull-bar.(and a rocket from her man I hope).."Stand by !" "Incoming!"

I hate phone polls - all they do is use 1900 numbers to cost us and raise $$s for themselves. I have 1900 numbers blocked on my phones.

I don't see how they could legislate for a special licence anyway - what criteria? Weight of vehicle really the only way - we have that already - but i suppose they could put in another class for say over 2 tonne - but it would not include all 4wds. They are just another vehicle - that lever in the middle doesn't make them any harder to drive in a street or school yard. "Ducks" like me have much better vision seated up in a Cruiser or Patrol than in a sedan - so those pedestrians are safer than when i'm in my commmodore!

Bingo.. I'm 100% with you. I've just searched their website for another way to vote, but nothing there...

"I don't see how they could legislate for a special licence anyway "
it doesnt have to be logical to be put into play look at other laws.

Yes we all hate phone polls and it's a con, but I know something we will all hate more...... higher costs for us as a discriminated group down the track.

I dont get it.

I ripped the seats out of my monster and now anyone (even on learners) can drive it.

Remember it did seat 18 people. What a joke.

Good idea iMusty

I posted somewhere else when the centre diff is not locked (Part timer) it is only now a 2WD vehicle you could also call it a people mover. There are always loopholes

not sure about vic but in sa and wa campers can be registered as caravans or mobile caravans andf pay less than for comercial vehicles. Eg my camper was only 6cyl rego not ute rego and my old e20 van was only 4cyl rego in SA
