G'day all, I have a question regarding 100 Series Turbo Diesel upgrade chip. Does any body have a prefence for one chip over an other and why? Thanks in advance.

There is a lot of information out there, try a search through the archives. From the data I have found, there are 3 types availabe - Tuneit, Dtronic and some other one.
They basically work the same by remaping the fuel injection (timiming and volume), it is not a matter of simply adding more fuel. I am about to chip my LC100 T/D. I am going to opt for the Dtronic from
feedback in the Bushtracker usergroup - it is preprogrammed at the factory for the vehicle (plug and play) and cannot easily be reprogrammed by the user. The tuneit can be reprogrammed manually by the user and reprogrammed (via laptop) if changing the other components (exhaust, intercooler etc). Not quite sure if the layman should stuff with the variables.
Dtronic does offer a "full monty" upgrade for $4k (exhaust bigger, intercooler and chip), but I have sourced just the chip for $1520.
Is there a better deal out there?

Hi
read alot of bad things about some of the chips...id suggest you go to Safari for a good one (i know theirs is) and whilst there, get one of their intercoolers and a straight through muffler too.

I purchased a Dtronic 18 months ago to fit to my auto 100 series T/D. Towing a
Kimberley Kamper, I have noticed an enormous difference - easy to fit - no real difference in fuel economy. From recollection I only paid $1200. It is the single most impressive part I have added to my rig. A friend who we frequently travel with has a T/D 80 series manual (with
Kimberley) and prior to fitting, he was able to easily keep up with me on steep gradients and heavy going off road work. Now my rig pulls away from his with power to spare. You will not be disappointed.

Unichip don't manufacture for T/D (maybe they did in the past), but now only support petro/gas models. The wiring harnesses for post 2002 cruisers have changed, so I doubt if if I will chase tht one up - buyer beware. Thanks for the info anyway
