G'day All,

I am interested to hear if anyone has fitted king springs to a 2000 model ( or similar) Hilux. Specificlly how you would rate them compared to standard, ie. ride height, general ride handling and load capability.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks and Regards

We had King Springs (coils) fitted to the rear of our 2002 Patrol ST flat tray 4.2TD after the originals which lasted only 6 months. Our ute carries a 360kg camper plus gear (approx 600-700kgs all up) and we were happy with them when they first went on but the springs lasted only 12 months (25,000kms - 10,000kms carrying the camper) leaving us not very happy. We replaced them with Tuff Dogs and after another 12 months and 40,000kms (25,000kms carrying the camper) later are still as good as new (no saggy bum on the ute now). The ute is only slightly higher when empty and the ride is still pretty darn good. It has been trial and error for us.
Summary: We were definitely not happy with the King Springs and are extremely happy with the Tuff Dogs.

Hi Jack74

did a similar exercise earlier this year and searched the archives. A number of posts on the topic. After reading went for Lovells to suit 90 Series Prado. I suggest do a search of current and archive for Kings Springs.

Good Luck
