Can someone please enlighten me as to whether 60 series chrome wheels will fit on a 1996 GXL 80 series. Am looking at updating to 80 and need to keep wheels same as the camper trailer. Thanks.

Basically no, they will fit on the studs but the offset is wrong and depending on the actual wheels you may foul suspension/brakes etc.
80 series have longer/wider axle housings and the wheels offset further in.

Depends on which chrome 60series wheels you're talking about.

The 60series Sahara chromes are 15x7, and the rear brakes on the later 80series don't allow 15inch wheels. (As well as the offset difference) (wheels will stick out about 2 inches).

The 16 inch chrome split rims from the 60series (they have the split on the inside) may fit up OK. I've had mates use the 60series splits on the 80series because they want a wider track. Given you have the GXL with flares, this may be OK.

Cheers
Phil

Early 80s came with 15 inch rims, first year or two. After that, 16 inch to make room for bigger brakes.

Cheaper to change wheels on da camper.

Try one on the back...if it fits there, it will fit anywhere else...the offset is ok, but the calliper will hit usually, and only by a little bit...so grinding it is an option....
Andrew
PS you can get 16x8's in 60 series offset and they fit... you can use the 15x7 on the front without a problem....but it will need to have a 11r32 tyre to be thesame diameter to the 275x75x16 tyre std on a 96.
