Wondering if anyone has first hand knowledge of how further (if any) above the peak roof line an airtec or safari
snorkel goes. It is a 2000 Prado 3.4 V6 petrol. I hope to get one, but the missus might not be so
well minded to avoid very low clearances :-) It currently sits only a couple cm under 2m.

This will give you some idea about Safari
Snorkel height...

Thanks Stan. It kinda does, but the angle is the same as the other photos I've seen and brochures. It looks higher above the roofline than I suspect it actually is - but then I'm not totally sure.

The
snorkel is only slightly higher than the highest point of the roof, by abot 20mm. The picture provided by Stan is deceiving and gives you the illusion that the
snorkel is higher than it appears. I have one fitted and the height would be no more than 1800mm from the ground.
I'm not sure about your estimate of your vehicle's height of just under 2m. I have measured
mine, fitted with an ARB roof rack and the maximum hieght is 2.04 m! I regularily fit into undercover parks with 2.1m clearance. Indead my garage entry is only 2.05m. You will find that your vehicle height is much less than you think.

Thanks Wizard. Agree, height is hard to measure. My best guess of my height is 194cm 'ish. From stock, I have put on larger diameter tyres and aprox 2" gain in springs also. I drove it under a 195cm
carpark measuring bar and it came extremely close. Mmm, assuming there the sign was accurate too - I might go back and measure it. Need room for error also.
I imagine that the TD
snorkel is identical in height to petrol too. That 20mm info is great, thanks.
Have you got a safari or airtec?

NEVER TRUST THOSE HEIGHT SIGNS!
I've had two experiences where those signs have been out.
Once I got my van Stuck at Morley Gallaria shopping centre becuase the ladders on the roof rack fit under the sign but not under the concrete on the ramp up to the next level!
The other was at Whitfords City
Carpark where the surf with basket went under the height sign no worries, then at the other side of the
carpark it clipped the sign with a whale of a noise and just about ripped it off it's chains! I looked and both the signs and they said the same height!!

mine, I have standard diameter tyres though, it was 1840 mm from the ground.
