At the risk of being boring (on the assumption that this topic has been covered before) I'd like to get some idea of the various channels and their uses.

I understand that
Channels 05 and 35 are Emergency Channels,
Channel 40 is the Truckies channel,
Channel 11 is General Calling,
but I've also been told that,
Channel 10 is the Fourbies channel, and
Channel 18 is the Caravnners.

Are these "facts" correct, or can you fellows (and ladies) out there help me out with some information.

Many Thanks,

Bernard

Sorry everyone. Can I cancel or withdraw the question please?

When SWMBO went shopping I had the time to really delve back into the archives, and my question has been well and truly answered.

Hope I haven't wasted anyone's time. If I have, please accept my apologies.

Bernard,

NSW Truckies also use Channel 29.

Cheers,

Hi Bernard, just remember don't use Ch 31-38 for simplex chat as it will access any repeater in the area. This will then transmit your chat to all listening to the repeater and is very annoying to anyone trying to use the repeater.

LOL, it's funny though when they are having a "private" converstaion and being listened to by thousands of people accross the metro area... ;-)
