Hi Phil,

I used to work in a battery shop and I would always recommend you purchase a battery from a place that has a high turnover of batteries. You will have a better chance of picking up a fresh one.
Some shops and especially service stations can have "wet" batteries sitting for up to a year before they sell it.
Personally I try to purchase mine from a shop that is storing the battery dry and only adds the acid at the time of purchase. They will store for a very long time if kept dry.

Cheers,
Brett

Up to 7 1/2 years on original battery, was getting very sluggish
on cold mornings(like me) so I thought it's time for a new one.
A bloody good run i'd say. 1997-2005 R.I.P

Was that in a new vehicle or older one??? You have a 79 series dont you???
The reason i ask is the imported cars' batteries have h2so4 (sulphuric acid) in them as opposed to the HCl (hydrocloric acid) batteries used here in oz...and im pretty sure they last longer.

Hi

Vehicle is 1997 75 series, battery is Yuasa Overlander 700, made in OZ.
I've always only ever used distilled water for top up.

Yuasa battery, 600 cranking amps, got eight years out of it before it carked it.
moved up to a overlander 700.

Check batteryworld when pricing.
