I made my own.the stem: 2 length of 25mm electrical conduit cut to suit the internal width of your 4x4.(one end to have the flare end). the flag:black polythene plastic like that used under concrete floors taped with duct tape to the stem.Fixing: 2 cable ties and a bungy cord(octopus strap) to your bull bar up from the bumper bar. Now all you need is to find a Concreter, Electrician, ducted heating contractor and your in business, good luck.

Hi.
Some fishing shops also sell cane fishing rod blanks minus any rings or fittings. May be worth making a few phone calls here also.

Check out Bike Shops. You often see bikes with a long orange pole with a orange flag. Bike shops sell them for aroung $15-$20

Made mine from a section of a 'stuffed' golf umbrella ...chose the red bit , folded it and hoisted it onto the HF aerial ! .. had to sew it on actually.. and after the trip was still OK ...
Though,... if you go to Birdsville they have them for sale at the Service station, these suit a lot of people also ......

I used a fluoro pink bike flag fixed to a fairly stiff CB antenna with the ubiquitous grey tape. Stayed there for all of the Simpson without attention and didn't interfere with radio operation.

As my HF antenna is on the rear, I got an old whip antenna from my radio shop and fitted it to the front of the roof rack. It was evedently knackered so they gave it to me. Just sewed a flag from some bright orange nylon material. Just a hint, I saw guys with blue flags, DON'T use blue, it doesn't stand out eneough, use a really bright colour which will contrast with the background. Happy trails, Mike.
