i am looking for fuel consumption info on the above in desert softish sand driving conditions Also has anyone had any trouble with the auto transmission Our vehicle is a 95 model.

You'll find just what you're after under "Trip Planning" above. there's a whole section on fuel consumption and the reports are grouped according to engine type and size - just find the 6cyl diesel section and look for reports from such trips as the
Simpson Desert.

Just a quick look suggests that you should plan on using between 17 and 20l/100. I notice some of the figures in the 6cyl section are given for 2.8l 6cylinder engines. I have a feeling that they are in fact 4cyl diesels and their figures are probably misleading - unless of course there is a 2.8l 6cyl diesel of which I am unwaware!

Your vehicle will probably use between 100 and 120 litres of diesel, therefore you should carry 40 to 50 litres more than the worst you could expect say 160 litres. You never know what might happen out there!
