Just wondering if anyone knows any other 4x4 parks around Brisbane. I am over Landcruiser park and black duck and want to try something else. I tried googling but not much luck. I found about 3 a couple of months ago but for the life of me I can't find them now. Any help much appreciated

Hi,

Without going into a lot of detail the Dirty Weekends in South East Queensland book has a section devoted to the private parks, so it may be a good idea. Several of the ones included are in Northern NSW and they are pretty good.

CK HERE and you can have a look at their web site.

If you can't get hold of it let me know and I can scan in the relevant sections out of my copy and email it to you.

Hi Troll

If you are looking for a good rough 4WD area try Sundown N.P. just west of Girraween N.P. on the QLD/NSW.
If coming from the north you turn right at Balladeen to get to it.
You must take everything is taken in and out.
There is a pit toliet at Burrow's Waterhole, don't know about any others.
Watch out for leeches in the stream and ticks in the grass.
We had no real problems.
Here is a website for it.
www.epa.qld.gov.au/publications?id=144

Word of warning, if it storms in there you may get blocked in for an extra day or 2, so try and get some local knowledge on it before you go in.

Enjoy, we did and can't wait to go back.

Theres a couple in Northern NSW... Levuka, Rover Park, Gorge Station... others but they escape me now, I like Rover... lots of tracks there! But a fair way, about 3 1/2 hours from the Gold Coast

G'day Troy

Haven't been to Landcruiser so can't compare. Similar to Black Duck, perhaps not as extreme, but then again if wet forget it. But that would cover most. Country is not all that exciting.

Has a range of tracks from easy to extreme, but none bloody ridiculous.

I prefer Levuka, very pretty country .. typical N.E. NSW.

Was there a few weeks back, it was greasy and we had a ball. Saw the value of lockers. Don't have them myself ... :-((

Cheers

G'day Rosco,
I heard about Janowen when they were opening up.
I read something about their rates that suggested you
could only go as part of a group of vehicles.
Is this true ? And how much is it ?

Cheers Moz

Couldn't say for sure about the group bit. We went there as a club outing, but the sign at the front gate welcomes all comers.

Wasn't all that expensive, about $30/couple/night. Levuka about $50 but worth it IMO.

All good stuff tho. Janowen is getting into the typical trap rock country you usually get west of Warwick, not bad but not exactly lush.

Maps are a bit of a chuckle, like most of them. Tho I seem to recall the ones at Black Duck a few years ago when I went there caused us the most grief.

Cheers

Nah! Sadly the insurance scam closed them down..Surely the "Judges" must be to blame. They are the ones awarding crazy amounts of someone elses money to those who don't deserve it..( Canberra..Remember the FA* Overweight polly rode a push bike..It protested..Broke..He needed a Band Aid™ and sued us folk and judge gave him $ 68,000 or thereabouts..) He will get a lot of "Cheery Ripe™" for that. That all flows onto us "honest folk"
