Hi,
Could anyone give me info of a butcher who does vacuum packed meat in the northern subs melb or heathcoteor seymour area of Vic. Also doing trip cross simpson in a few weeks....will have 200 litres diesel for 6 cylinder heavily packed l/cruiser....would this be enough to do a bit of a zig zag on the way across, or just straight across the french line?.

Cheers
Mick.

Hi mick, are you talking about cryovac stuff, my butcher in Romsey will do it, have you asked any of the local butchers up in your area if they'll do it, alot of them will...

Most butchers have vacuum sealing gear - just gotta ask around. I usually give them my order and then do the rest of my shopping and come back and pick it up about an hour later. Easy.

As said above,
Just ask around as a lot of meat cleavers cryovac now. Woolworths and Coles sometimes will do it as well.
Just make sure that you ask them to put it in the COOL room and not the freezer while it waits for you to pick it up.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Why would you get it done before you go?
I did 15,500km last year including Tanami/ GRR/ KImberly/ etc and got mine done at Alice. As previously pointed out select your meat, get butcher to pack in 'meal sized' packs and collect about an hour later. Make sure to get the butcher to wrap the boney bits (chicken legs) in foil before vacc.and use te chicken first.

Thanks for input.... I did something similiar last year over 2 months, and also got vac done in Alice, and also Broome.....but this trip is a small 25 day'er...so thought to get it all in one whack.
