Love to go to the "Holiday Isle" but can't afford the extortionate price to get our 4WD & camper trailer across that little strip of water :-)

The problem starts when you want to take a trailer/camper/caravan etc. They rip you off blind as they charge you full price for the vehicle and trailer/camper/caravan. Typical of the dual heads to ensure so many don't go to Tasmania.

Very reasonable? If Im correct(will be seeing Ian this arvo so will check) he said $680 return, and thats NO sleeping cabin on the way back to save money!!

Reasonable it aint in my book. Shame or people would go more often, but then again the boat is always full!

Yes he has camper trailer towed by GU.. Not sure how many bodies...

PRICES BELOW ARE ONE WAY! with the Gov Rebate taken out!! They dont include People, they are extra on the price of car etc...

PEAK 7 Dec 2002 ... 26 Jan 2003
OFF PEAK 28 Apr 2003 ... 29 Aug 2003

Maximum height is 4.2 metres. Maximum width is 2.4 metres.
Shoulder Peak Off Peak
0.1 - 6.0 Meters $101 $171 $67
6.1 - 7.0 $150 $234 $150

Don't get caught off-road in Tasmania where you should not be, or in dunes.

truckster - i'm an ex dual header - get off the boat and travel in the general direction that you plan to go and you'll find that most tracks in tassie lead to somewher interesting, try some of these places - the central highlands (Miena) and the western lakes district - anywhere on the west coast - arthurs river - pieman river - trial harbour, east coast is pretty easy, scenic and touristy - nw coast is full of forrests - its all great holidaying, just buy a map and go - regards tim

I had to pay quite a bit extra when travelling over from Tas, as I was towing a trailer. The reason the prices are so expensive when you tow, is that you are taking up 'truck' space. Ie, you are taking up the space of a truck which of course is more expensive. I'm not sure what the exact situation is with the new boats as I travelled on the old one. When I returned to Tassie there was a 2 month wait if I took the trailer as the 'truck' space was booked out.
