I am going away with a mate next week (probably Tuesday weather permitting) just for a couple of days down the lower
Yorke Peninsular. We will primarily be fishing. Has anyone got any good spots they would divulge where we can
camp close to a good
fishing spot? I have the Camping Guide to SA, but it really only tells us what facilities are available and if fishing is available. I don't care as we will take everything we need, just want a nice spot close to the water. Any suggestions?
Thanking You
D-Jack

Actually,
Stansbury is a good staging point, especially in awful weather. Don't know about
bush camping though.
Pesty would be the boy to ask.
Cheers

There is a pretty
good campsite at
Pondalowie Bay, close to
Browns Beach, actually it is close to everywhere on the foot of the peninsula. Years ago we used to just stop pretty much anywhere and throw up a tent for an overnight stay but I think it is pretty
well patrolled by Rangers these days.
Cheers Peter and Lez

It'd alright Lez and Peter, Moses was named after a trip to the high country, where he cleared the water in the puddles for those who followed Heather and myself in his care. I remember that Andrew wante dto give any one smaller than himself a wizzey, Lez you did nearly everything to avoid that. LOL

Pondalowie bay gets my vote too. Good camping, close to
Browns beach for the salmon, good
snook in the bay too.

Best spot Is (used to be) the southern end of formby bay. Reason it is good is It is a cut lunch and waterbag along the clifftop to where the beach starts then another waterbag along the beach till you get to the good gutters. We humped a tent down there and set up behind the dunes. whatever you do stay away from
browns beach waaaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated and fished out. You rally need to go the extra ks to the upper eyre penninsular region as
Yorke is mostly fished out and people from
Adelaide think the wold ends at PortAugusta but shhh dont tell em otherwise

Thanks everyone - might give Corny Point a go - never camped there before but been there and looks very fishy. Will also be protected from any north or south esterlies which we are likely to encounter. Thanks for all your replies

WE camped overnight at
Daly Head, we just drove along
the beach, let our tyres down to 12 or 15 and backed into the dunes. Very sheltered, lovely sunset.A 5 minute drive and your'e near (possibly)good rocks for fishing. We just sat and drank wine. We thought that was quite nice.
When you talk to the locals about fishing, they say "gee, you should have been here yesterday" so now we go a day earlier. Rus.

Daly Heads is at the other end of
the beach I spoke of but as I only had a 2wd I would access the area you speak of from the southern access point and walk. I considered it to be the best beach on the
Yorke and never had to share
the beach when we went in the mid 90s as everyone would be at Browns complaining of the lack of fish
