Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can help. I've got a Cameron Off Road camper and would like to build 2 x slide out draw/kitchen units (1 each side pull out the back) size about 400x400x1750. I am struggling with keeping weight down ( have contemplated steel box frame and 10mm ply) and yet still strong enough to handle rough stuff. Also does anyone have any ideas about cheapest and easiest method of slide assembly, so as the BOSS can pull out the unit also?
Thanks.

Hi Rick
I am no expert on building such things, so I can't be much help that way. However, I wondered if you had considered other options. Our Challenge CT has the kitchen mounted on the rear
gate. It is really easy to use and has been the envy of many people with pullout kitchens. It is made of steel, and has a Spinflo 2burner gas stove/grill, a sink and plenty of storage space. It is brilliant to be able to stop for a cuppa, open the kitchen and away you go. Ours is also an offroad trailer, and we've given it a fair beating without any problem. It also leaves heaps more space in the trailer for other things!
Hope these ideas are a help.
Happy travels
Anni

I have the same cameron c/t as you with the genuine cameron kitchen box. It's made of 5ply and slides out the back on two nylon runners. It's big enough for all our kitchen gear and easy to pull out. I've had it with the trailer for five years and it's never caused a problem. I'm sure if you built one to your own design using the same materials you would find it light enough and strong enough for the job
