Have just bought a long wheelbase mercedes sprinter motorhome and want to know if there is a club or group that has been formed to affiliate with. I would also like to know of people that have travelled extensively in one of these vehicles and what accessories you may have added or any problems you may have encountered.

2.8? Is that a 5-cyl?

I'm also interested to see how the newer Merc common rail T/D's are doing for reliability in delivery vans. The reason is that the engine in my Jeep is a close cousin (2.7 CRD) and I'm keen to see how an engine which is not a big, slow long-stroker lasts in a commercial environment where they're highly stressed over time.

hey Chrispy. to let ya know that i work on these merc's with the 2.7 CDR.
turbos engines.they all have problems one way or another. did have head gasket faults in lows km's vans and cracked heads around 120,000km +,computer faults. highest km's we have is around 220,000km. It seems the late model vans are holding up ok.. other than that the engine has good power out put..
cheeers happy camping.

A couple of good websites to look at are around-oz.com then go to the motorhome section, and cmca.net.au Barry.
