Just wondered if anyone knows of a manufactured insect guard that can be fitted to a bull bar on an 80 series landcruiser.
Alternatively , any suggestions .

Thanks

I just wrap flywire around it ... maybe use fishing line to fix.. then remove when not needed.

Check with Toyota, I have a factory one. They might still have them for 80 series.

Thanks for the suggestions.
A friend told me ARB have specially designed one for the 80 series (Not recommended for trurbo)
IS36 for 95 on and IS18 for To 95.

Will check out Footloose's suggestion with Toyota too.
Thanks

A friend bought one for his 100s at around $100, I thought very expensive
and the mesh seemed too large to be of much help.

The metal fly screen would do it, the fibreglass stuff might not last too good.
Stay away fron shade cloth as a friend had temperature problems on his rig due to not enough air flow. I'm using some fine stainless mesh I got from a mine.

I would feel more comfortable with a larger mesh than what it appears the ARB one has (3m).
Toyota , have were unaware of the size of the mesh and were unwilling to
find out. They said I would have to order one in and then it could be checked.
They also said it would have sufficient air flow , if that is what it was designed for.
Skinnydog you mentioned a friend had the larger mesh, and I would appreciate your advice on where he got it and the manufacturer's name please.

The one my friend got is a Toyota genuine accessory.
At 3mm the ARB sounds OK, however mine only cost $7 for some pinch mould to cover the edges.

Thanks for that.
Toyota have agreed to get one in for me to inspect (and return if not happy) and I am assuming it will be around the same size as the ARB.
Cost by the way is $81 .

I installed fibreglass insect mesh when we went to central Aus about 5 years ago (Had heard insects were a major problem as there had been recent rain)-
It is starting to fall apart now, but kept the radiator 90% free in the past.
