No i didnt do any mods on the exhaust as i found it ok for the work that is was doing (80% on road).I was as so happy with the milage i was getting out of it about 11ltrs to the 100 and not much different when in the bush or loaded.
Never had to spend a cent on it (other then services)it was a great truck i only sold it to get another Toyota (v8 landcruiser)as the family has now gotten larger.
I hope this helps.
Cheers Ken

A little birdy told me the '06 Triton will have the DiD(Pajero TD) option. This should be a lot less thirsty than the Tojo TD and more powerful... Unless you're going hardcore 4x4ing, I know my Triton has gone as far as any Lux it's come up against. Guess it depends on what you want from the whole package and how soon you need it.

Sorry, if I'd read your post properly I'd have noticed you were looking at used vehicles... My bad.

Getting back to the original question, my views on capability remain the same. Some have recently stated the Lux 3.0td are a thirsty unit with figures like 14l/100km, my 3.0V6 triton does better than that and I only know one bloke with a 2.8td Triton(contractor at work), with ladders and a tray full of gear he is claiming 9.5l/100km running around the western suburbs of Melbourne.

Hope that helps

Hi vehkis,.We have had them both..Loved both of 'em..Had the Mitz Triton Turbo for 4yrs,flat-top..Single cab..Great for work..Had some magic bush trips in it..Did a (fast)quik trip to Bris (1000k ea way) once when shop computor blew up..dump[ed software)..Had last of the "real" Hilux D/cab 4x4s (live fr axle) from new for 4 yrs..Did a Kimberley real offroad 7500kms adventure in it..Both Toy & Mits have their quality great (all made in Thailand anyway I believe) so forget the brand politics and just buy the features you need..From a dealer? Pay the little extra for extended warranty..Girl we know did that..Saved her when her s/h SR-5 needed some work..Cost her nothing..Helps? Rgs RockyOne!MPG:5!
