G'day all,

looking for some help on suspension. Have received a quote from Lovells for replacement springs & shocks to restore original height & offer better towing / load carrying for 90 series Prado. They are offering their brand name springs & shocks. The shocks are Gas Legend. Does anyone have any experience with these? Where do they rate in regard to Bilsteins, OME, TJM etc.

Gas Legend..
the name stinks to me of BigW, or Bi-Lo...

never heard of them, so wouldnt rate them with anything in that list... specially bilsteins or OME!

Truckster,

on Lovells website (www.lovells.com.au), they are listed as Lovells 4x4 Gas Legend Twin-Tube Gas Charged Shock Absorbers. There is quite a blurb, and seeing as Lovells springs get such a wrap, I would have thought that their Shocks would rate somewhere up there (however they are cheaper than Bilsteins).

Andrew,

thanks for that. I noticed your post last night - but it wasn't there at the time I started my question. When I saw your post I was amazed at the coincidence of 2 similar queries.

You can't go past Lovells with Bilstein Shocks for the Prado....
Get this setup ans it will be BETTER when the prado original setup
in terms of ride comfort for both onroad and offroad....

Gday mate,

Wouldn't waste the time of day on bilstiens, had a set on a landcruiser, has many replaced under warranty. Eventually, I was accused of working them too hard/using them too much offroad. Bilsteins are a great shock for rally cars for one or two races.

Lovells coils are great, depends on what you want out of the kit. Load carrying and better towing usually mean firmer coil, meaning reducing ride quality. Leave it to you, but I can recommend lovells/Dobinson and EFS shocks. So can many others I have got kits for.

cheers

Chris.
