G'day all, a mate of
mine wants to take his kids up to see the snow on a day trip in a couple of weeks.
just wondering where would be a good place to go which is closest to
Melbourne? Not looking to do any skiiing or anything like that, just to find enough to build the kids a snowman.
Cheers,
Ray

One good place to go is Mt St Gwinear. Its near Lake Thompson, and is no further than Lake Mountain by the tim eyou consider the freeways. It is cheap to get in (I think $8), and not as busy as Lake Mountain. I used to take the kids up to Lake Mountain every year for a play, but now I prefer the cheaper and more fun Mt St. Gwinear.
To get there, go north from Moe, though erica, and turn off near lake thomspon.

Well its been 15 years since I lived in Vic but what about Mt Donna Buang? I remember going there with the folks and back then it was free to get in.
You can only snow play there as they dont have skiing or anything but if thats all you want then your laughing? Lake Mountain and Mt St Gwinear very little to no snow at the moment so I would
check the snow reports and wait until they get some decent falls before you go.
