My companys ACA registration renewals came through today- Looking at them, our HF's were listed as a "land mobile". I enquired into this and found they could all be registered as outposts instead and dropped the renewal by over $1000 for each site.
Something worth checking when yours comes in!

That would only be the mobiles, not the bases ?

As bases we are using standard car HF units with a multi-tap aerial plugged into the one tap and left there.... We use these bases the same as one would a car unit.

Depends what you want to do with the HF. If you want to use the 737 network itsd around $80 a year

If you join VKS737 for $87 you don't need an ACA license. If you use other frequencies as a Land Mobile you do need a license and that costs about $30 a year.

As per VKS 737:
Members wishing to use other frequencies [than VKS 737] must obtain an Outpost Radio Licence from the ACA (and use the ACA supplied callsign, when on those frequencies).
VKS 737 access is $87 odd
License for outpost is $37 odd
land mobile license (ie: base station) is $1200 odd.

Just got my amateur renewal with a cover note to explain the increase to $58 I think it was but I'm still none the wiser. Something about more efficient use of spectrum space. So does that mean some hams get brassed off let the license lapse and there's more room for me. Whatever it is an increase has gotta be good for me coz they said so.

If the amasteurs are priced out of the spectrum that leaves a lot of space to flog off. Thats spectrum management.
