hello to the 4wders out there me and tho old man and some mates are heading on a trip on the 30th of july. heading to flinders rangers and then up to birdsville for 2 nights on the 5th to the 6th of august ,is it wise to book in or just rock up and get a site, steve.

Ruth, who runs the caravan park at Birdsville, is a regular contributer on this forum and will probably weigh in with some advice at some stage.

From what i have heard it is a pretty big park and you should have no trouble getting a unpowered patch of ground BUT having said that, late July early August is getting into peak season for travellers in that region so a phone call ahead of time might be a good idea if you have any certainty about those dates!
