Gday all,
I had decided to get a carby fed petrol GQ Patrol a couple of weeks ago...but not now. Had a chat with
John from
Brisbane Turbos and have been told that without a doubt, the efi model will be the best choice. He suggested a Garret ball bearing turbo with intergrated waste
gate, 3 inch mandrell exhaust, dump pipe etc and I should get around 240hp at the rears @ 10psi. I may intercool as
well. This will benifit performance. That's some serious neddies. I was informed the carby version whilst very tough, is not suited to turbos. He said a hybrid T3/T4 Garret could go on but only run 5psi due to the difference in compression. The other issue was heat and the fact that the fuel would most likely boil in the hot QLD heat causing performance issues.
So now I'm on the prowl for a GQ EFI patrol with as low k's as I can get for as cheap as possible...obviously. So if you see one, member message me, I'd much appreciate it...and I'm willing to travel to get it. Keep ya posted.
Cheers guys and gals,
Chris.
