Posting this for a friend as i haven't got the metro guide, hope that's ok?
Geoff,
I have a Garmin GPSMAP 60Cand MetroGuide (Australia). In an attempt to set route preferences, I can get all the tabs except the “Routing” . I would like to access it so that I can use the “Auto-Routing” in the Route Styles.
What am I not doing or do I imagine that it exists?

Metroguide does not do routing. It has the maps but no routing info, I'm not sure if it can find addresses but I'm certain it has not routing
To do this he needs City Navigator.

Metroguide does not do auto routing. The latest release of City Navigator version 6 contains all the metro guide regional mapping plus the City navigator update but will still only provide auto routing in metro areas...

Metroguide is only able to show you as the crow flys how to get to the address whilst City Navigator will show you street by street, thus these two points are the major differences between the two products. However, when I say this is what the software can do, you have to make sure you have the following
(a) A Garmin GPS
(b) A Garmin GPS that is a mapping unit
(c) A Garmin GPS that designed to use that software.
Metroguide won't auto-route but the GPSMAP 60 is capable of handling City Navigator that allows you to access the routing tab.

Correction.... The GPSV is capable of giving you street by street navigation if used in conjunction with City Navigator, however, with metroguide the GPS will accept the street address but won't direct you to the address street by street, only providing a pointer showing you as the crow flies what direction you have to travel. Metroguide is not autorouting but a routing software.
