Google Earth downloads temporarily delayed

Thanks for your interest in Google Earth, but we're sorry we can't offer you a download right now. As you know, Google Earth is in beta, and we're still building out our ability to take on new users. We're making good progress, and expect to be able to accept new downloads shortly, so we recommend you check back daily at earth.google.com. We hope to be able to welcome you and other new planet surfers soon.

We appreciate your patience,

The Google Earth Team

Hi Glenno

Thanks for posting that, was wondering when it was finally going to be realased.
We first saw it a few months ago on a doco and the people that they employed there to create it.
All their staff are very well looked after and the company really appreciated their employees.

Thanks Glenno. I didn't know and I am interested so to me your post was most worthwhile and that is the point of this forum, it doesn't have to appeal to everyone. You pick the info that is useful to you and discard the rest.

Thanks for letting ME know.

Wolfie

I thought the satellite images in the Natmap series were good. These images are unbelievable. In the zoomiest view of Canberra I could easily make out my old house and the neighbour's pool. You can even make out cars. Sadly, my new place isn't covered by such detailed views but I can see our dams. Must have been taken recently- the whole region looks as dry as a chip.

Man what a program!!! I just downloaded it and am totally amazed. Its a 10MB download, but thats only the program, you have to be on-line to get the pictures. The detail of my house is so good you can easily tell I only have one of my two shade sails up in the backyard. Remote areas do not seem to have such good resolution, but overall I am beyond impressed.

Thanks Glenno, I can see why you were so excited. To others, make sure you try it, you will not be disappointed.

Cheers

The difference is that land online is Ariel Photo's not Sat photo's, but the beauty about it is you can select the area you want and buy it, then use it in ozi explorer!

I havn't been able to see the google one yet as everytime I go there its "busy". I did however go and have a look at that Nasa one they were talking about (spose to be similar). It was a 180mb download though!! Pretty cool, I like the way it zooms in, it's like something out of James Bond!! LOL
