I laughingly threatened in a post last week, but now bit the bullet and finally joined as a member. A bit like growing up... lurk-->visit-->join. :-) Looking forward to interesting reading, and perhaps meeting other members one day!

There are plenty of posts in the archives about this, but joing offers several things;

1. Ric Pictures and Photo Albums.
2. My Home Page (and area that keeps you up to date with what's going on on the page as well as keeping you up to date with the forum and recently changed posts etc.
3. Thread Watch, which allows you to bookmark certain threads so you can keep an eye on them
4. Member messaging.
5. Being able to Post/Create/Host trips and gatherings
6. Discounts on items in the shops and the use of "memeber money"
7. A sense of well being? ;-)
8. You get a certain amount of free plot swap points
9. Help keep this site running and keep the team at exploreoz.com in a job. (advertising helps to).
10. David is always working on new features for memebers.

I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of any at this stage.
For $30 bucks a year I get far more entertainment out of it than I would Foxtel and I reckon it's worth it. Foxtel is $60 a month!! ATLEAST!

Agree fully with you Jeff. The discounts are good, etc and if i get good service I don't mind paying for it. Information is golden and what I get here is cheep as chips. The members area file swaps are invaluable.

But if your not buying things as in #6, there isnt much reason to pay. I could change my name to MEMBER Truckster if I wanted an erection.... Nobody would know the difference...

What "nobody would know the difference" if you had an errection? LMAO!
Maybe Scruby was right all along!! LOL

Fair enough Truckster, it depends what you use this site for, if it's just for the forum (which it is for a lot of people) membership does offer an easier way to use the forum, but if you're happy with the way it works as a guest type user than hey, happy days.
I don't believe in pressuring people to join, hell there was a point where I just could'nt afford the $50 bucks for the first year and used it for free, but my personal opinion is that I've gained my membership fees 100 times over in savings (by buying the right thing the FIRST time from advice of other members) and knowing where to ge things at the right price, so for me it was like a repayment initially, but I do like the other features and am use to them now so I probally wouldn't ever go back. But hey, that's just me.

The site wouldn't be the same without the regular non-members, and a lot of that advice I was talking about was from non-members. So in a way if I help keep the site going by becoming a member, I'm helping the non-members who helped me. (if that makes sense?)

Anyway, I'll shut up and stop dribbling now!
