Proir to the NJ Pajero 2.8lt intercooled the engine was shared with the trition the 2.5lt turbo and i've been fimilar with this engine for a long time and there are no inherent problems - as for older non turbo models i have no idea - regards tim

As far as I'm aware Mbishi have used the same engine (4D55) as the basis for their motors for quite some time. ie the standard, turbo ,and IC turbo all use same basic motor.
As I said I'm about 99% on that. They are a good solid motor but not likely to set any land speed records. Make sure it has been serviced correctly. Look for an Intercooled one if you can.
