I am about to buy a 1991, 80 series Land cruiser GXL. In the back the previous owner has installed cupboards and water tank which cover the roof and floor. I am wanting to fit a baby capsule in the vehicle but as I cant see the floor or roof I cant tell whether or not there is an anchor point or not for the baby capsule. Is there anyone out there who has info regarding whether or not they are standard in this model or are they an after market item?

Thanks in advance.

there is definitely an anchor point and do what Dereck suggests, go get someone to make it work for you.

Hi Tex Mac,
Have had a 92 model, standard(non GXL), 80 series for a while now , but with a recent new addition to the family, I spent some time looking for the anchor points in my vehicle as well. Finally gave up & decided to read the owners manual. Found them on the roof in the rear of the vehicle, directly above the rear barn doors. There are three of them accross the back, all with screw in covers. Personally , I did not trust the fitting of the anchor point to be done by anybody but myself, but if you are in doubt about it, then you should seek out a professional installer to do the job for you.

Regards, OM&M.

They are definetly in the floor.
I wanted to use mine as well as have _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx fitted. What I did was put an extension strap into the mounting point and laid it flat towards the front of the vehicle. I then bolted the _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx on top. Once they were in I lifted the strap up through the cargo barrier and hooked it onto the car seat.
From memory I think I used 2 extension straps of 300 mm. Thats because sometimes I used the seat out of my wifes car which was longer and I only needed one strap. Has worked fine and now that I have a new Prado I don't need it anymore as they bolt into the seat itself.

Cheers

No. There is tie down points x 4 and then there is also car seat bolt down points in front of tie down points. They are in a line across the back one behind each seating position. There is a spot in the carpet which has to be removed if they haven't been fitted before. Just pull the carpet back and you will see the threads into the chassis.

Have a 1990 GXL80 and they are definately in the roof. As described above, they are covered by blanks that screw out.

I have a 91 GXL and there are three mounting points in the roof near the upper tailgate. They are covered by three plastic caps which screw in and out.

I have 1991, 80 series LandCrusier GXL and also have a 4 year old. The baby seat definatly mounts in any of the three points accross the roof and i am sure it even mentions this in the manual, you'll find them behind the plastic srew plugs grey in colour.
