Hi All,
I am going to buy either a 4.5 litre GU patrol or a 4.5 litre 100s cruiser.
Yes, after years of owning diesel engines, I am wanting a more powerful alternative for towing and highway cruising. i have weighed up the diesel vs petrol debate and am happy to spend the extra few $ per 100 km on a petrol model (also saving around $7000 on initial price).
In the price range i am looking at, the two 4.5 efi engines appear to be the best option - big six - no fuss technology.
I am having trouble deciding which 4.5 to go with, so from a technical/reliability point of view which engine would be the best option - given that power wise / torque wise they are similar. Any major difference with spare parts and mechanical build etc?
Anybody have any
views on this?
Cheers

Quartzy, i had a 100 Series L/C 1998 RV 4.5L and could not fault it, plenty of power and comfort, had it serviced every 10,000 k's, but with the kids grown up i have now brought a GQ Nissan Patrol Ute Diesel, mainly because it suits where i live and the recreational side of my life.

the both of them may have similar power but the drive train in the patrol is far stronger then the cruiser eg gearbox etc.

I've got a Ti Patrol. I bought that over an ST because of the extra comforts.
Its not great for over 6 footers though.
I doubt that one is better then the other. Boils down to best bargin
