Hi all,
I need some advice. We regularly get away for weekends and long weekends and have just about done Vic to death (although we will always have our old favourite spots). We have both managed to get a week off work in early September which leaves us with 9 days to play with and we would like to make a longer trip to somewhere we would not normally get to in a weekend. As we are unfamiliar with what is over the border in each direction we were hoping for some suggestions. Must be able to fish (coastal good) and
camp in a fairly quiet area. Will be taking the Hilux so 4WD although we will only have the one vehicle so I guess we can't get too serious...
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Wollondilly station looks good with "trout fishing all year round".

Hi Jodi
How about
Kangaroo Island. Heaps to do and see, awesome fishing, fresh scallops from just off
the beach. Plenty of
places to 4wd and camping. It is fairly quiet, but does have some little towns,
Kingscote is the captial, Pennisure is another great spot and is where the ferry lands. Get there from Jervis bay is SA. Head to
Adelaide and head south. Should take about8-9 hours to get to the ferry. Make sure you book the ferry.
Or head to Innaminka

Yep I was going to suggest KI myself. The whole Is is good but the western end is stunning. Fishing? Bream in the Chapman R. Surf fishing from the beaches and there are several jetties.
Enjoy!! We did.

hi jodi, i would recommend the flinders rangers in sa, great sights & 4x4 drives, central flinders around
wilpena pound is good but i would suggest
bush camping at a station eg, willow springs is good , cheap and not crowded like the wilpena
camp area,
hope you enjoy wherever you go.

Yes, I was going to recommend the Flinders but as Brew says there is not a lot of fishing action!
Perhaps a few days up in the Flinders and then down to the southeast of SA on the way
home via the Coorong,
Robe and
Beachport (via
the beach if weather is good!) and along the coastal route. Some good Salmon fishing along there as long as the weather and time of year is good. Sounds like a great trip!
Cheers

Thanks sshep,
I actually went to school in SA and for one of our school camps we did a 4 day hike through the flinders. Hard work but
well worth it. Stunning
views and spectaclar gorges. Very pretty place.

Thanks to all for your responses. Now eagerly checking out maps and working out where we will plant ourselves for the break. Looks as though somewhere between
kangaroo island and down along the coast might be the go.
